June Moon Memo's - Monthly Astrological Outlook with Rachel
June begins with a shift in our thinking as Mercury exits its home sign of chatty Gemini and enters the nurturing waters of Cancer, bringing a more emotionally introspective tone in our communication with ourselves and others. Mercury in Cancer takes on the intuitive, non-verbal impressions we feel and translates it into words which may feel less readily available. What would it be like to risk saying what you would normally swallow because you deemed your needs too trivial to be met? With Mercury approaching Venus and Jupiter in Cancer, there is restorative support for emotional and relational repair within our our relationships, themes we will be revisiting when Mercury goes retrograde at the end of the month.
On June 10, Venus will be meeting up for a juicy kiss with Jupiter in Cancer, forming a gorgeous conjunction that marks the most auspicious astrological weather of the year. Venus and Jupiter are the two beneficial planets, granting us a sense of sweeter and inspiring care amidst other worries that lie in the backdrop of our lives. This is a beautiful time to really hone in on how you are cultivating care and love with the people you most care about, and building the vessels to foster a greater sense of kinship and belonging to fill your cups. What kind of conditions do you need to allow in more life-affirming abundance to bloom?
Venus, planet of desire and love, enters the warm hearth of Leo on June 13. Here, Venus invites you to orient your self-image to one that radically accepts your suchness and the heart of who you are at your core. When you don’t have to pretend to perform for other people’s approval, what does your playful self feel like? What would you be wearing, eating, doing? Dazzle yourself and risk letting yourself be seen as unapologetically you, proud and unshrinking.
On June 15 we have a New Moon in Gemini. This is a quieter, internal new moon moment where we are assessing options and contending with what we need to compost so we can choose the option we want. With this lunation sponsored by Mercury in Cancer, let yourself feel into what is bubbling to the surface and pay attention to what your emotions are communicating to you before deciding on any action. Mercury emerges as an evening star, begins slowing down and enters its shadow period.
Venus in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius on June 18, a tender chance to intentionally explore the depths of your own brilliance and where you are still struggling to accept and love your own bright light.
Chiron, a minor asteroid known as the Wounded Healer, moves into Taurus on June 20 after transiting through Aries since 2018. Chiron reveals where we’ve been hurt, and in the process of healing our wounds, we help others heal. Chiron will stay briefly in Taurus before moving back into Aries on September 18th, a brief glimpse of a returning 8 year transit next year. In Greek mythology, Chiron was a renowned teacher, healer, herbalist and astrologer. Chiron transiting through Taurus shows where we are collectively tending to wounding around our relationship to land, bodies, resources, food, climate, economics, and developing more skill around healing and stabilising our relationship to nature, our body, the analogue world, craft-making, and tangible resources.
Cancer season officially begins on June 21 when the Sun moves into Cancer. Prioritise comfort, prioritise nostalgia, prioritise crying when the tears arrive, prioritise what emotionally fills your cup over ticking off boxes of achievement. This is a time to honour your emotional body, and become more attuned to your physical body. No you’re not being too sensitive, your body is simply communicating to you that your needs are signalling for your attention. What if it is safe to say no so your body doesn’t have to?
Mars enters Gemini on June 29 and immediately begins forming a conjunction to Uranus. This marks a tonal shift in how we assert ourselves, which may begin to feel buzzier and a touch more overwhelming. Mars in Gemini fights with words and can be verbally divisive, so be mindful of getting into debates and arguments just for kicks when that’s not really how you want to expend your energy. There is extra energy here to break free from the thing that you’ve been wanting to end, which may arrive in surprising ways you do not expect.
The last day of the month takes a turn as Mercury stations retrograde in Cancer on June 30. Mercury retrogrades are not a time to be feared, but a period where life reveals where we are trying to rush through life in a smooth linear manner, when life never actually happens in a straight line. With Mercury in the sign of the crab, approach your days sideways and indirectly. You may be circling back to something past. Attend to any misunderstandings as they arise, do not take things personally, and attune to your feelings as data on what you need. On the same day, we also have a full moon in Capricorn, squared by Saturn in Aries, intensifying a tender tension where it feels like we are having to confront something.
Jupiter enters Leo later that afternoon, ushering a new Jupiter cycle for the next year (till July 2027). Jupiter represents temperance, coherence, belief and wisdom. Jupiter in Leo is inviting us to grow our capacity to celebrate our inner brilliance, radically accept our own sovereignty, and how being more true to ourselves is exactly the light others are drawn to, and what the world needs at this moment in time. You deciding to believe in yourself indicates how you are living in integrity with your creative vision. Jupiter in Leo is asking: how will you liberate yourself from the inherited beliefs that tell you who you are is cringe?
