This course provides an insight into the yogic science of breath, or Pranayama.
In 90 minute sessions spread over 6 weeks, we will cover both the theory and practice of major pranayama principles, including:
· History and development of pranayama
· Anatomy and mechanics of breathing
· Yogic anatomy and the energetic body (vayus, nadis, koshas and bandhas)
· Ten major pranayama techniques.
What are the benefits of pranayama?
Pranayama includes techniques for expansion and control of breath to energise, relax and balance mental, emotional and physical states. It can:
· Reduce stress and anxiety and enhance mental clarity and focus
· Improve emotional regulation and build a stronger connection between the mind and the body
· Improve respiratory and lung health and increase physical energy and vitality.
Who is the course suitable for?
Structured in a way to progressively build on knowledge and technique, this course is suitable for all, with no previous experience required. Each week will include both theoretical and practical elements to enable participants to create a graduated and sustainable personal pranayama practice.

Who is the course teacher?
Tony Dennis has been practising yoga for over 30 years and teaching for over 15 years. Initially, Tony trained in Iyengar yoga before finding Akhanda yoga and his teacher in India, Yogrishi Vishveketu. With Akhanda, Tony has trained in classical Indian Hatha yoga, Rajah yoga, Kundalini yoga, Yin yoga and advanced Pranayama.
This is a 6 week course held Monday's each week for 90mins. Please ensure you are available to attend all classes as refunds or credits cannot be issues for inability to attend or change of mind.
*Course participants that have any of the following conditions should contact Prana house to arrange a time for Tony to speak with you directly prior to committing to the course: neurological conditions including epilepsy, mental illness, heart disease, pregnancy or recent childbirth, recent surgery, PTSD, asthma.
