Invisible Illnesses for Health Professionals

Elevate the care you provide for people living with ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), Hypermobility, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Long Covid & more.

Our flagship course has attracted big-hearted and like-minded health professionals from all across Australia, including physiotherapists, osteopaths, exercise physiologists, myotherapists, psychologists and doctors.

You will discover the common threads between complex conditions, best practice for management including movement, pacing & restoration, and how to care for yourself whilst helping this underserved population.

A little about you:

You are a compassionate, creative and curious health professional who tends to attract the more “complex” cases.

Across your client load, you are starting to see more people presenting with chronic invisible illness, or perhaps you're feeling curious about chronic fatigue and pain.

You know deep down that you have the skills to help these people, but there was so much that wasn’t covered at university.

You’ve tried to look up best practice clinical guidelines and found that they either didn’t work for the patient you had in mind, or were completely non-existent.

A little about us:
Jennifer Smallridge and Florence Kelly are Accredited Exercise Physiologists who exclusively see clients in the chronic illness realm. They founded Connection Medicine Co. to utilise their 30+ years combined experience and best support emerging healthcare professionals who wish to also work in this rewarding space. This is their fifth consecutive year of delivering Invisible Illnesses for Health Professionals.

What you will learn:

  • The similarities and differences between these complex conditions

  • The nitty gritty of their potential pathophysiologies, and how best to simplify this for patient education

  • What we can actually do to help this patient group, using our current scope of practice, but also thinking outside the square

  • Where and how to begin, progress, maintain and pause movement and physical activity

  • Deep diving pacing & restoration principles and putting them into practice

  • How to care for yourself whilst looking after this beautiful client group

What you will receive:

  • 13 learning hours for your CPD logbook

  • A beautiful course book for you to refer back to

  • A completely paced weekend, complete with a relaxation station

  • Frequent movement breaks

  • A variety of seating options: chairs, blankets, bolsters, cushions, legs up the wall are all encouraged here!

  • A goodie bag to take home

  • An array of nourishing snacks and hydration options

  • An instant community of likeminded health professionals

What health professionals like you have to say about us:

“It felt like such a safe space, I felt so comfortable and nourished this weekend. Normally I feel drained after a seminar but I actually feel energised!”

“Jen and Flo are fabulous presenters who are very knowledgeable in their areas. They are obviously very passionate, and have inspired me to improve my care with these clients.”

“The course was well thought out (chairs, floor, blankets, the space) and created a warm and effective learning environment. This is so rare for a PD event and it makes such a difference.”
