Ayurveda

Ayurveda is an ancient science of holistic healing and prevention all the way from India.

More than 5,000 years old, Ayurveda is a complete medical system, but more than that, it’s an individualised approach to taking care of yourself by living in alignment with nature.

Ayurveda looks at the whole you and works to address the underlying cause of your issues and challenges so you can go beyond temporary relief and re-enliven the body’s innate capacity to heal and thrive.

Ayurveda recognises that no two people are the same, and we each come with our our health history, circumstances and physiology. Ayurveda provides a natural, holistic and completely personalised to taking care of yourself. Treatment is centred around lifestyle advice, food as medicine, taking care of the mind and spirit, use of herbs and bodywork treatments. Ayurveda offers a lifestyle that not only sets us up to be healthy and thriving, but one that feels joyous, intuitive and deeply connected to ourselves.

Emily offers Ayurvedic health consultations and Ayurvedic massage.

Vedic meditation

Vedic meditation is a simple mental technique for even the busiest minds. Practised for 20 minutes twice a day, there’s no need to concentrate, get rid of thoughts or sit like a pretzel.

Vedic meditation allows the mind and body to naturally settle down inside, creating deep rest so we can let go of stress, tension and fatigue and reconnect with our inner peace, fulfillment, happiness and creativity.

Vedic meditation involves the gentle internal repetition of a mantra (a short sound) in an easy, effortless manner. With this, we enable the mind to spontaneously settle down into a deep state of rest, gently removing stress, tension and fatigue from the body while re-establishing ourselves in a place of calm wakefulness we call Being.

Rather than trying to control the mind or get rid of thoughts, Vedic meditation offers an effortless approach to calming the mind and relaxing the body, allowing true healing and transformation to take place.

Emily Rees

My name is Emily, I’m a Vedic meditation teacher and Ayurveda practitioner living and teaching on Wurundjeri country (with the odd trip to Kaurna land/Adelaide).

What began as a search for the antidote to anxiety quickly became a head-first dive into self-exploration and what it means to live life from the inside out – with purpose, fulfillment and radiance.

I first encountered Ayurveda in 2011 and it has been gently shaping my days ever since. I loved that it offered me a thoughtful, personalised and empowered approach to looking after myself. As I continued on my journey, I came to meditation, exploring different techniques as a means to quell the deep experiences of anxiety I was facing. Eventually, I found Vedic meditation, and it catapulted my own journey like no other.

I became a Vedic meditation teacher in 2018, sharing this simple technique with those who sense meditation could support their mental, physical and spiritual health, while exploring the deeper meanings of life. In 2023 I graduated as an Ayurvedic practitioner with the Australasian Institute of Ayurveda under the guidance of Australia’s foremost Ayurvedic doctor, Dr Ajit Singh.

I’m devoted to uncomplicating meditation and Ayurveda and empowering people with the tools, knowledge and support to make it a sustainable daily practice, while never losing sight of the deep and profound tradition from which Vedic meditation and Ayurveda originated.

When not meditating or teaching others, you’ll probably find me in the kitchen experimenting with recipes, out walking in nature, cuddling my fur baby Miso, studying, tending to my tiny urban garden and enjoying life in the slow lane.

Testimonials

“I've been working with Emily over the last year and I can't recommend her enough. She uses a holistic approach that is very empowering -- I've learned so much about how to support my own health and nourish my body with food, herbal medicine and lifestyle changes.

Also really recommend her massage services when you're feeling rundown or depleted.”

“Wowee Emily’s abyhanga massage when I was pregnant was AMAZING. So much so I went back a week later for a second one right before our second baby was due. Emily has created a beautiful safe space and I felt so nourished and cared for after a rough pregnancy and a tiresome time parenting a toddler. This was the biggest gift to myself and highly recommend this massage if you’d like to nourish, care and take a moment to yourself. I can’t wait to book in for another.”

“I completed a meditation course with Emily in 2018 and have since attended rounding workshops, group meditations, cooking classes and more recently an abhyanga massage. Emily exudes warmth and is extremely grounded in how Ayurvedic practices complement a modern lifestyle. Her natural intuition and wisdom has helped to improve not only my mental health but my resilience and overall quality of life. I couldn’t recommend Emily or her services more highly!”
