Simon’s teachers include Liu Chun-jie (Qigong), Les Stacpoole (Tai Chi), Liu Deming (Kung Fu), and Leonie Macfarlane (Aikido)
QIGONG
Qigong translates as energy work (or skill). It is a broad term for various exercises based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. By improving and regulating the body’s Qi (vital energy), it can produce many potential health benefits, such as improved circulation and breathing, relaxation/stress relief, better sleep, improved quality of movement, and mind/body integration. Some of the styles Simon teaches are Ba Duan Jin, Zi Ran, Yijinjing, Peng Qi Guan Ding, and Zhen Ba Chuan.
TAI CHI
Tai Chi is a series of movements and postures blended seamlessly together. It has a basis in martial arts, but is performed softly and fluidly. Health benefits from regular Tai Chi practice can include improved co-ordination, balance, body strength, flexibility and endurance, as well as stress relief and better body awareness. The main focus of the teaching is on the Yang Family Large Frame Long Form of 108 movements, with later opportunities to study partnered training, weapons, etc.
